WAKO Kickboxing National Champions
On the weekend of the 16th and 17th of February, ten fighters from Evolution Martial Arts in Boston attended the WAKO Kickboxing British National Championships in Nottingham. The team fought exceptionally well with Evolution coming away with 8 golds, 5 silvers and 6 bronzes placing Evolution Martial Arts in 7th place out of 102 teams. This is a fantastic achievement to finish 7th at the National Championships in a recently IOC Olympic Recognised Sport.
Nesta Baxter, Talon Chambers and Chelsea Leggatt all became new 2019 BRITISH NATIONAL CHAMPIONS.

Nesta Baxter, 18, fought in six categories with it being her final time to compete in the Junior division as well as fighting in the Senior categories as well. Nesta won five National Titles and a Silver Medal across these divisions. Winning titles in the Senior -60kg Point Fighting and Kick Light and the Junior -60kg Point Fighting, Kick Light and Light Continuous. Then the Silver Medal in the Senior -60kg Light Continuous.

Talon Chambers, 12, came away with a great weekend finishing up with becoming double British Champion for 2019 along with 2 silvers and a bronze. Talon won the Gold and National Titles in the Boys Younger Cadet (10-12 yrs) +47kg Point Fighting and Light Continuous. Talon then went on to take Silver positions in the Older Cadet (13-15yrs) +69kg Point Fighting and Kick Light along with a Bronze in the Older Cadet +69kg Light Continuous.

Chelsea Leggatt, 19, became the new WAKO Kickboxing National Champion in the Senior Ladies +70kg Kick Light. Along with this over a great weekend, Chelsea came away with a Silver in the Senior Ladies +70kg Light Continuous and a Bronze in the Senior Ladies +70kg Point Fighting after missing out on spot in the final to a strong welsh fighter.

Mark Baldry won a well deserved Silver Medal in the Veteran Men’s +94kg Light Continuous fight after a very exciting final which was described by one of the referees as one of the best fights of the day.

Zac Baldry, 15, fought very well into the semi final to finish this year’s national championships with a Bronze medal in the Older Cadet (13-15yrs) -57kg Light Continuous category. Mackenzie Warrant, 12, claimed a well deserved bronze medal in the Younger Cadet (10-12yrs) Boys -42kg Light Continuous division, fighting some good fighters along the way. Paige Stedman, 13, fought extremely well to come away with a bronze medal in the Older Cadet Girls (13-15 yrs) -50kg Point Fighting category. Jake Peppercorn, 17, won the final bronze medal for Evolution Martial Arts in the Junior (16-18yrs) Men -84kg Point Fighting division after a last second score to the opposition.
Also fighting at the championships for Evolution Martial Arts and coming away with Runner Up positions were Theo Ziobro Magalhaes, Mason Vaughan and Riley Brocklesby.
This weekend was a brilliant weekend for all of the fighters and Evolution Martial Arts as a club with some fantastic results to show at National level. A big thank you to the coaches for their hard work and dedication towards the fighters.
Evolution Martial Arts are currently in the process of moving homes to a new location at the Old Goods Yard down Spalding Road. This is looking to be an exciting new start for the club with its new home. We would all like to thank the community for coming together to help one of their local sports clubs.
